Materials
Plastic:
Pros: corrosion resistance, diverse material characteristics, easy to process, fillable, reinforceable, ductility, chemical resistance, lower environmental impact than mined metals, not an animal skin, not from a tropical tree, mostly recyclable.
Cons: not a true high-strength or high-temperature material (like glass or refractory brick or some metals); not always recycled; most do not biodegrade rapidly; mostly based on fossil fuels; use requires viscoelastic analysis/design, which many mechanical engineers and civil engineers do not know.

Wood:
Cons – It's a softwood, so scratches and dents are an all too real possibility. Pine can have knots that bleed through if the furniture has a painted finish.
Pros – Affordable and ultra durable. ... Because it takes dark stains well, maple is often used to mimic more.

Metal:
Pros:Durability. Stainless steel tends to be very tough. This type of cookware does not chip, rust or even stain, at least easily. Stainless is also dent and scratch resistant. It is practically impossible to destroy. This makes it very easy to clean, generally. This cookware is generally dishwasher safe, can handle going into the refrigerator and more.

Cons:Poor heat transfer. Unless a bonded aluminum or copper base is used, the heat conductivity is very poor. This means cheaper stainless might not be superior to other products out there.Pricing. The better stainless steel is, the more expensive it tends to be. On the upside, a very good set of stainless cookware can last a life time. Many people consider this to be a one-time purchase that's worth the investment.

Glass and Ceramic:
Pros:Ceramics are easy to clean.Food can be safely stored in it.
Cons:Chips easily. Foods sticks. Glass has hot spots and poor heat distribution.

Silicone:

Pros:Unlike other forms of bakeware, silicone is flexible enough that you can even fold it, if necessary, for storage. This flexibility makes it a bit easier to store than traditional baking pans and trays. But removing baked items such as cupcakes
from silicone proves a bit simpler as well, since the bakeware may be pushed or flexed to pop the cooked item out once the silicone cools a little. Even though it is flexible, mashing the bakeware repeatedly beyond recognition to store it in a much-too-small space may eventually crack or tear the silicone.

Cons:Even though silicone is versatile, it is not without a few potential problems. Since it is so flexible, it may eventually crack or tear if not handled gently. Cleaning it with scouring pads or abrasives may scratch and damage the material.

Teflon Coating:
Pros- Teflon is applied in layers to the surfaces of pots and pans. This makes it less scratch-resistant than other types of non-stick cookware. There is also no need to add butter, margarine or oils to the pan, which cuts down on calories and reduces fat intake.Teflon-coated cookware is pretty much a snap to clean as food bits do not stick to the surface. Pots and pans can easily be cleaned in the sink or dishwasher. And making clean-up easier is the fact that meals also will rarely burn in Teflon cookware because of that lack of sticking.
Cons- Despite its multi-layered coating, Teflon can be very easily scratched if people use metal or sharp plastic utensils. Wooden spatulas and spoons are recommended to preserve the surface and keep it from being destroyed. Also, flakes of Teflon can be ingested with the meal if the pan's surface is scarred. If Teflon cookware is over-heated, or even preheated without any food in the container, toxic fumes can be released.

Materials
Plastic:
Pros: These utensils are lightweight, easy to transport, and can be disposed of instead of cleaned and reused. Plastic utensils are relatively inexpensive to purchase, maintain, and store.
Cons: Buying and using plastic utensils can create environmental issues, raising overall costs and negatively impacting natural resources and landfills. The material these forks, spoons, and knives are made from is usually not the recyclable type of plastic.

Wood:
Pros: Wooden utensils are soft and very gentle in use with the most delicate cooking surfaces. One of the distinct advantages of wooden spatulas is that they are not going to scratch the finish on your non-stick coatings.
Cons: Most wooden cutlery is carefully sanded and smoothed for safe use. Wood does dry out, however, and it might develop splinters or cracks if it is improperly stored or handled.

Metal:
Pros: Stainless steel tends to be very tough. This type of cookware tends to not leach off any of its metallic properties into food.
Cons: The better stainless steel is, the more expensive it tends to be. Although stainless is generally pretty easy to clean, stuck on foods can make coated pans look a little more attractive.

Glass & Ceramic:
Pros: Ceramics are easy to clean. Glass can be used as server.
Cons: Chips easily. Glass has hot spots and poor heat distribution.

Silicone:
Pros: Despite being lightweight, silicone is strong and sturdy material that can last for a long time. Silicone bakeware has excellent nonstick capabilities.
Cons: Odors have been reported by some users, but this usually happens due to the use of low-quality and low-grade silicone.

Teflon Coating:
Pros: Easily washes with soapy water. Lightweight cookware.
Cons: The pans may stain. The surface can scratch, chip or flake.

Plastic
Pros ; Plastic is expensive and light its good for storing food.Plastic also guards against contamination. Cons; The concern is that plastic food-storage containers are leaching chemicals such as bis-phenol A into our food. Bis-phenol A (BPA) is a chemical used during the manufacturing of certain hard, clear plastics.

Wood
Pros;Wood does not conduct heat so if you leave in a hot pot for a while the spoon will be cool, wood is an inert material its non-reactive to chemicals. Cons: They are harder to clean than stainless utensils, quickly loses their glossy finish and might develop splinters or cracks if not taken care of properly.

Metal
Pros; They are durable and will not break under heavy loads ,Will not soften or melt at high cooking temperatures.Cons; More expensive than plastic ,most common failure is the bonding of the handle and material.

Glass and Ceramic
Pros;High temperatures with stand ,Ceramics are easier to process and are highly available Glass does not rust ,ceramic knives are good for the citrus family. Cons;Break easily ,broken piece might be sharp ,Ceramic is not good with high temps.

Silicon
Pros; Space saving they are foldable so they fit anywhere, simple cleaning Cons; Puncture problems since its very flexible it might crack when cleaning it might scratch the material.Silicone is made to withstand 500 degrees of heat but some heat sources might damage the material.

Teflon Coating
Pros; Makes pots and pans less scratch-resistant , there is no need to add butter, oils to the pan which cuts down fat and calorie.Cons; Can be easily scratched if you used metal or sharp utensils, flake of Teflon can get ingested into the food , if you preheat Teflon , toxic materials are released

Plastic refers to the process of recovering waste or scrap plastic and reprocessing the materials into functional and useful products. This approach helps to conserve energy and diverts plastics from landfills or unintended destinations such as oceans. Some pros are that there are convenient, there are durable and can be use more than once.some cons are that 500 billion to 1 trillion plastic bags are used every year, worldwide.
Wood: is the backbone for many kinds of furniture as easily sculpted and durable, for human needs. Pros is the least expensive wood used. Con it's a softwood,so scratches and dents are an all too real possibility.
Metal: like the stainless, stainless steel are beautiful modern appearance simply not found in other metals and materials.pros they are resistant to rust and water damage.
Cons it shows fingerprints and smudges but it really is not a big deal.
Glass and ceramic: Ceramic is generally considered among the healthiest materials used throughout the home from cozy warm mugs to tiled flooring. Glass are more efficient as the dense heat travels upward.
Silicone Appears to be safe. It is an inert metal nothing used in its manufacture will leach into foods.
Teflon Coating while the health effects of overheated teflon may be serious, using common-sense cooking practices will help you avoid exposure.
